oooooh, the first look. So maybe as a bride, you’re thinking about doing a “first look.” Or maybe you are thinking you want to save that magical moment when your groom first lays eyes on you in your dress for when you take your first step down the aisle. Or maybe you’re thinking “what the heck is a first look?” Whatever you think about the first look, sneak peek, ….whatever…. I want to share this one with you, because it pretty much epitomizes the perfection that is seeing your soon-to-be husband (or wife) before the ceremony.
…gasp… but why would you DO that? Why would you let your groom see you before the ceremony!? For this sweet, sweet, sweet moment that you get to share, without all of your friends and family watching, when he can whisper softly in your ear how breathtaking you look. And when you can cry those few soft tears of excitement, nerves, relief, and amazement… (and then go touch up your makeup before the walk down the aisle!) And you can embrace and have a moment of support to anchor yourself for the next step in your day that is marrying the love of your life. I understand the idea is not for everyone, and that’s totally ok!
As a photographer, I won’t hide the fact that we love the first look. Not only do I get to witness a freakin magical event as the groom turns around to see his blushing bride for the first time (which makes for AMAZING pictures) but it also gives us a nice 20 to 30 minutes of time to take pictures with JUST the bride and groom. We get to shoot without family interrupting, and without being rushed by the coordinator to get in for the grand entrance to the reception. It results in beautiful, love soaked, unhurried pictures of the bride and groom on their big day. Which is really why the photographer was invited to the party in the first place! It also allows you to get to your party quicker after the ceremony. Your guests wait less time for dinner, and you might even have the opportunity to sit back, relax, and enjoy a cocktail during the cocktail hour. Amazing!
Enough about how much I love the idea in general, and on to how much I loved this moment with Cameron and Jenna. So sweet, so beautiful, and so powerful. The pictures pretty much speak for themselves. Enjoy!
seriously, I love everything about it.
