This two quite simply had a beautiful day packed full of love. A large wedding party, and a big wedding were only the first outward signs of a day brimming with joy. Then there were the smiles that were unstoppable and the happy tears (from pretty much all of us) through a warm fall ceremony. Hammers and Lace did a gorgeous job pulling together all the details at the recently renovated Coto Valley Country Club. This was one of those weddings where by the end of the night my own cheeks hurt from smiling and my heart was so darn full. These two have that insatiable happiness and contagious good vibes that keep my soul fed. I just entered my ninth year of photographing weddings and days like these will never ever get old.
I love seeing my old friends bring beautiful babies into this world. I feel so lucky to have these few hours spent with new parents and new babies in the comfort of their home. Part of me feels like I get to be privy to such a special intimate part of people’s lives, which is exactly what I want to capture, but it’s not lost on me that it’s also just really cool to get to witness this stage in someone’s life. Everything is still new- feeding, changing, trying to convince a baby to sleep… learning everything is on the babe’s new and ever-changing schedule. These sessions are an exercise in patience for everyone, but also a lesson in slowing down, listening to the babe’s cues, and being a calm and present force. Kind of a magical experience.
Part of the reason I love in-home newborn sessions is my clients so often have dogs. I love incorporating these “first borns” into sessions! Newborn sessions usually come in waves for me, and to start off 2018 I jumped right in with 5 sessions in January. This sweet little babe was super special since she was my only girl all month. Love, love, love getting to capture these special moments as brand new family of three (ok FOUR counting loving guard dog Milo).
This babe rocked her senior portrait session down by the beach. I seriously cherish getting to pick the brains of these graduating seniors, and hear all their plans hopes and dreams for the future. I always leave senior picture sessions so inspired and optimistic!
These two had such a gorgeous, timeless celebration. With the help of Whimsical Day Events, they pulled off a seriously perfect wedding day. On a long holiday weekend somehow full of both warm temps and a brief spell of pouring rain they promised their lives to each other. Cheers to a lifetime of happiness you two!The Villa, Westminister CA | Coordination by Whimsical Day Events | Videography: Fiske Film
